Leicester based company – Renfrew Group International (RGi) has been nominated as a finalist in a worldwide competition to acknowledge the best innovations in engineering, science and technology. RGi is now set to join other businesses in their field at a prestigious London award ceremony hosted by technology writer and TV presenter Kate Russell.

Renfrew Group was selected as a finalist in the Healthcare Technologies category in recognition of its design and development of the InSmart Artificial Pancreas (In collaboration with De Montfort University’s Professor Joan Taylor).

The Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Innovation Awards identifies excellence across 16 categories from sustainability and transport to communications and healthcare technologies.  The international annual awards scheme provides a unique opportunity for engineering inventors to showcase their brightest ideas.

The awards, now in their 10th year, are renowned for raising the profile of winners and bringing them to a wider audience. Many former Innovation Award winners report increased interest in their products as a result of winning the accolade. For example, Actual Experience Plc, which won the Information Technology Innovation Award in 2012, has grown to the point of flotation on the stock market earlier this year.

Renfrew Group International joined the rest of the short-listed applicants at the IET Innovation Awards Ceremony, which took place in London on 19 November 2014.
